Our Story

In 2020, our lives changed forever when a bright-eyed seven-year-old boy entered our lives through the foster care system. Despite being about two years behind in his reading level, his spirit was unshakeable, his smile infectious, and his potential limitless.

With a Ph.D. in neuroscience and a background in AI strategy, I began thinking about how we could transform the challenge of reading into an engaging adventure. Research showed that children, especially those with ADHD, often learn better through social interaction and teaching others rather than traditional testing methods.

This insight led to a breakthrough: what if we could create an environment where reading wasn't just about absorbing information, but about sharing stories, teaching others, and building connections? We watched in amazement as his reading skills began to flourish through this approach.

In 2023, surrounded by love and holding his 'court bear', named Brownie, our son officially became a permanent part of our family. At age 11, he's not just catching up in reading – he's soaring. He went from being two grades behind to testing at the 95th percentile for reading at the end of Grade 5! His progress inspired the creation of this interactive reading companion, designed to help other children discover the magic of books through connection and conversation.

Because as it turns out, some stories do have happy endings... especially when you get to write them together.
